This definition reads like an eighteenth century textbook and is useless. The American Heritage Dictionary definition (with audio pronunciation) is useful.
I wonder if it would be useful to mention that Rule 81 of the US Federal Rules of Civil Procedure abolished scire facias in 1938. It is no longer used in the USA.
