People in "Allegheny City" where Henry Phipps lived were not impoverished. The homes were orderly buildings built of bricks and granite. Some of them still exist.

Phippes?
Is this US family any connection to the family of Adam de Feipo (http://www.google.ie/search?hl=ga&q=%22adam+de+feipo%22&meta=) who was a leader of the Norman Invasion of Ireland and whose Irish descendants had the anglicised surname Phippes in the seventeenth century? 86.44.44.218 (talk) 18:42, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
