Peppermint rose to fame after appearing in RuPaul's Drag Race. But since 2013, she has had the dubious honor of being saddled with a Wikipedia entry. Peppermint changed her name upon transitioning and asks that publications refrain from mentioning her birth name. In the trans community, doing so is known as 'deadnaming.'

A redirect should easily solve most issues. As for the rationale it’s because since the article’s inception she has come out as a trans woman and professionally has expanded her career, notably as a Broadway actress. Gleeanon409 (talk) 01:32, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I Agree with renaming to entertainer. There's nothing wrong with being a drag queen but labeling Peppermint as just that seems limiting? cave (talk) 20:23, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Another Believer: The reasoning is that she also performs in other capacities than drag (for example, her performance on Broadway). Sort of like how Madonna is a singer, but the article is titled Madonna (entertainer) because she also acts, etc. GorillaWarfare (talk) 22:09, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

GorillaWarfare, I'll assume most people describe Peppermint as a drag queen, as do more sources per my Google search just now, but I guess I'm not opposed to "entertainer" if that's what editors generally prefer. ---Another Believer _(Talk) 23:42, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
