M. mordax & M. praecox are most probably ecotypes of the same species (as are Lampetra fluviatilis & L. planeri in Europ).
- That's impossible, since both occur in the Moruya and Tuross rivers (i.e. same ecosystem), where they are distinguishable by different times for metamorphosis. Snottygobble 01:30, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
- Only a DNA analysis could proove it, of course.
- I don't follow you. Isn't an ecotype a type for which the distinguishing characteristics are attributable to the effects of and their adaptation to the ecosystem in which they live? If so, isn't it logically impossible for ecotypes to share the same ecosystem? Snottygobble 11:47, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
- Only a DNA analysis could proove it, of course.
