Universal

Universal Studios owns the "Dragnet" property. They own it because:

1) Webb sold all his rights to MCA Television for $5,000,000 in a deal that closed on December 31, 1953. The deal included all episodes produced to date and to come.

2) MCA-TV acquired Universal Studios in 1961.

Universal hired Webb in late 1965 to produce, direct and star in a "Dragnet" TV-movie. This led directly to the 1967 revival.

The hands stamping Mark VII at the end of Dragnet.

In the article on Dragnet, it is stated that the hands are those of Jack Webb. In the Mark VII article, it is stated that they belong to Ivan Martin. I noticed there hasn't been much activity here on Wikipedia about anything to do with Jack Webb lately, but I thought maybe someone could request verification on these two claims so we could find out which one is true. Sherry TV

"Sherry TV, Inc." is identified onscreen as the copyright holder after the opening narration in the 1950s episodes of Dragnet. I can't seem to find any other production credits for them but it seems they were involved with merchandising related to the show. Did they become Mark VII? - knoodelhed (talk) 19:39, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
