Merge Ridgeville Township into Evanston Township

It appears that Evanston Township and Ridgeville Township are the same civil township, though before and after a split and boundary change: According to the Ridgeville Township article, the township underwent three changes on February 17, 1857: the south part was detached to form Lake View Township; an area called the "Ouilmette reservation" was attached on the north; and the township was renamed Evanston Township. (Apparently the attachment on the north was reversed two years later and given over to New Trier Township.) Arguments for merging: It appears to have been the same township legally from 1850 founding to 2017 dissolution; the target article is more or less a stub; and neither subject exists anymore to expand beyond its current scope in the future. Argument against merging: It could be said that Evanston Township and Lake View Township both have a common historic origin in Ridgeville Township, which had a different boundary under that name. However, the Lake View Township page is currently just a redirect to the neighborhood of Lake View, Chicago, and Ridgeville Township only existed formally with that name for 7 years. --Closeapple (talk) 05:14, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Support merge, on the grounds that the histories are sufficiently intertwined that having them discussed on one page would be helpful. Klbrain (talk) 21:19, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
