Ayumi Hamasaki, Beautiful Fighters Screenshot

I have a screenshot of the sign of the Cuyahoga Falls business in the video of "Beautiful Fighters," mentioned in the article. I cannot upload it. Does anyone have the proper rights to upload it for me and add it to the article? --IrrationalAtheist (talk) 17:24, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Pop Culture section

I took out the popular culture section. The In Popular Culture guidelines say to uses popular culture items that help someone who doesn't know anything about the city learn something, and the items in the list look like just mentions in the movies and songs. --Beirne (talk) 00:40, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

in defense of the "Pop Culture" section, and, an alternate suggestion

Why not add the section back, but call it "Trivia?" The items in the list are of interest to people in/from the region. Also, someone from elsewhere might have their interests piqued by the mentions of Cuyahoga Falls in those particular movies and songs. It may be what leads them to look up Cuyahoga Falls on Wikipedia in the first place. I myself, have discovered books, movies, and songs, by looking something up on Wikipedia and seeing in mentioned in "Popular Culture" and "Trivia" sections on pages. If the point of Wikipedia is to help people learn new and different things (educational or otherwise), trivia sections may prove very helpful. If nothing else, they add a whimsical dimension to what could become a bland article.

Anyway, rather than just deleting something right away (I recently tried to add an "In Popular Culture" Section - having no idea that one had previous exsisted), perhaps it would be more diplomatic to leave it up, and let people discuss it here on the talk page. I don't think a deleted section is likely to get much press. Leaving the section there invites conversation. Andrewjc2 (talk) 04:36, 6 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Andrewjc2, thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. Per your message on my talk page, you are aware of the general distaste for sections titled "Trivia". I must oppose any addition of a trivia section out of hand. It simply invites pointless additions. I'm not completely opposed to an "In popular culture" section. However, 2/3 of your edit was not good content, and the third that was had poor sourcing. Tommy Boy and My Fellow Americans mentioned this community simply because the screenwriter chose to set the film in the metro area. There is nothing inherent in either story that requires it to be in Cleveland. Now "The Pretenders" on the other hand are all about Cleveland.
I would not oppose including the bit on the band, with one caviet. It needs to be sourced to something other than the band. Surely someone has written about Chrissy and the guys Cleveland ties. Encyclopedias are based on what others write about a subject, not what a subject says about itself.
As far as leaving it in while we talk about it drawing more attention, that just isn't how it works (See BRD and notice it isn't BOLD, REVERT, RESTORE, DISCUSS). The people who care about this article already have it on their WATCHLIST and will join this discussion if it suits them. John from Idegon (talk) 05:33, 6 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
