After some searching: Pendant numbers?

These numbers were given to vessels before leaving port and indicate their position in convoy. The first one (or two) numbers denote the column and the last number denotes the row. For example, Pdt. 112 means that the ship was in column 11 and there was one vessel ahead of it.

@Hohum: Thanks, it's an experiment so not finished and all suggestions are welcome. How can I alter the format to make sure that the ship names stay under the position number (the longer names go below the number and the shorter ones don't) would making the table wider do it? I moved the efn rather than duplicate it and tried to find a way to get the photo of the destroyer (filling whitespace) to align with column 1 etc to no avail. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 17:30, 5 July 2024 (UTC)

If you use the same format as I've used in the table, the ship names should always be under the number, no matter their width. (Hohum ^@) 18:05, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
