can't see the forest for the lions
- Their lands take their name from the Gaelic name Monadh Croibhe meaning hill of the sacred bough. This is represented on the clan crest which features the sacred tree.
According to the Clan Map by Moncreiffe & Pottinger, the shield is Argent a lion gules and a chief ermine and the crest is a demi-lion gules. The supporters, iirc, are wild men. So where does a tree come in? The mantling does appear to be oak leaves. —Tamfang (talk) 22:25, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
