Founding of the Chest
I looked at this because I was told that a chest at Buckland Abbey (Drake's home) was the original Chatham Chest, a statement which I doubted. The Companion to Pepys's diary, where I looked first, told me that it was in the National Maritime Museum, and the Wikipedia article added that it has gone from there to the Chatham Historic Dockyard museum, an assertion supported by that museum's official website, though not by any reference in the article. However, the museum website also contains the assertion that the charity was set up by Drake and Hawkyns, which is at odds with the article. --Martin Wyatt (talk) 17:07, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
