Georgian explanation

because they used Russians who had never even lived in Georgia.

good luck to find another source, it is obvious that they were disqualified (zero points to IIHF world ranking in that year)

We all know that they were disqualified. We also know that a random 'x' post is nowhere close to a reliable source. Five players were used that had not played for them before, all five played two club seasons in the Georgian league before representing the national team. Each of them has continued to play in Georgia. Did they commute from Russian to play for their club teams? Most of the time the Country or the IIHF will issue a statement about where the error was, or what the issue was, they have not. Guessing or jumping to conclusions is not better than not knowing.18abruce (talk) 14:34, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I am a little confused because, while IIHF never made an official comment about relegation and it was a little up in the air other than "disqualified", the 2024 season and tournament has now passed and Georgia was indeed relegated. Is the concern just the source used to cite their relegation that is the concern?--–uncleben85 (talk) 04:42, 9 June 2024 (UTC) EDIT: Yes, sorry, I was misreading before. The issue does seem to be the source itself. I am unfamiliar with "Hockey Worldwide". What sort of credibility do they have? I will give them some credit in that they are followed by reliable sources like Craig Button, Gord Miller, and Mark Spector.--–uncleben85 (talk) 04:47, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Uncleben85: The issue is that there have been multiple attempts to provide a reason that are based simply on "they are russians". On the surface, each player appears to have gone through the correct process for representing Georgia (based on their domestic playing records) and we have no idea whether they are Georgian citizens born in Russia or not. The source used, an 'X' post, wants us to believe that players played two whole seasons in the Georgian league without living there. To be fair, that is not far off how Armenia got suspended. hockey worldwide is a very recent creation that is nothing more than a social media outlet regurgitating other sources.18abruce (talk) 13:42, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
