Tom Wright (born 1990) is a British playwright and theatre director from Coventry[1].[2]

In early 2019, Wright had two plays debut back-to-back in London[3]; My Dad's Gap Year at Park Theatre, starring Michelle Collins[4][5], and Undetectable at King's Head Theatre[6], both directed by Rikki Beadle-Blair (MBE).[6]

Undetectable returned the following year.[7][8] It has since been licensed around the world.[9]

After the pandemic, Tom's third play Very Special Guest Star premiered at the Omnibus Theatre[10][11][12], described by the chief theatre critic of The Guardian as a ‘thoroughly original play that entertains, provokes and unsettles’.[13]

In 2022, Tom’s play I Ain’t Dumb premiered at the Belgrade Theatre as part of UK City of Culture celebrations in his hometown.[14][15][16]

Tom's debut short film Stockholm premiered at the 36th edition of BFI Flare: London LGBTQI+ Film Festival.[17][18] Sky Arts commissioned Tom to create his next short film Sent To Cov for National Broadcast.[19]

Tom is gay and has written regularly in support of LGBTQ+ artists and audiences.[1][20][21]
