Category talk:IBM hardware

Well, the blue box said to reduce the entries and if you do that enough then none are left. The creation of Category:IBM products would seem to have made this category redundant; there is no obvious function left for IBM hardware (it wasn't a subcategory of anything other that IBM products) and IBM products even now has only a few entries.

There are some subcategories that would be useful.

"IBM medical products" as a subcategory of IBM products "IBM communication devices" as a subcategory of IBM computers

Hope that I've not gored your ox. 69.106.243.72 (talk) 19:43, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The "blue box" probably refers to Template:Category diffuse, which is an instruction to move all or most pages to a category's subcategories, not to move all the pages to a category tree whose root starts from a category that's higher than or on the same level as the current category. Category:IBM products does not obsolete the purpose of Category:IBM hardware any more than it does Category:IBM software, which wasn't affected by the creation of the IBM products category. For this reason, I'm returning this category into use. 99Electrons (talk) 20:51, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
