Single user or shared use account?

Hi OsmoseIt, welcome to Wikipedia! As you know I've been happy to engage with you over at WT:MED and I hope you've found my suggestions to be helpful. I have a more WP-specific question about how you refer to yourself and what it means for your account. You tend to refer to yourself in the first person plural (i.e. "we") rather than ("I"), making me wonder whether more than one person uses this account? — soupvector (talk) 05:00, 30 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey soupvector! I am the single person who uses this account, but I represent the organization. That said, the organization does have the login information and if I were to ever leave this post someone else would use the account. OsmoseIt (talk) 15:11, 30 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps a WP administrator like Doc James could comment, but I don't think institutional/role-based accounts are allowed. I'm glad to hear you're a single user, but my guess is that you should change and protect your password so that no one else can use it. — soupvector (talk) 19:28, 30 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What does Osmosis plan to do with the inaccurate videos?

This is not at all acceptable. Doc James spoke to Osmosis months ago about the errors in the Breastfeeding video. It was removed from Wikipedia on March 26 the day that the ongoing conversation regarding hosting the Osmosis videos on WP began. The breast feeding video contains serious errors that can do real patient harm. Osmoselt, as an RN you know how serious we in the medical field take med errors. If you ever made one yourself, or if one of your associates did, you know that even a minor error is a traumatic event that one carries with them for the rest of their life. The errors in the breastfeeding video are not minor and the video remains on Youtube to this date. This represents a med error of major proportions. That you leave the video up and that you don't bother to comment to the Wikipedia community regarding the videos is not at all acceptable. Gandydancer (talk) 17:51, 6 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Software used to create the videos

Hi OsmoseIt. The idea keeps coming up that the Osmosis's videos are editable by anyone. Could you please tell me:

  • What application(s) does Osmosis use to develop its videos? I.e. I imagine you use some kind of animation software with a proprietary file format? What is the name of that application?
  • Are you willing to release the editable vector source files for your videos under a CC-BY-SA licence? I am not saying you should do this and I am not trying to encourage you to do it. To be honest, I can't imagine that any company would give away its original source files. I just want to make it possible for the Wikipedia community to know your position either way.
  • Are the fonts that you use commercially-distributed or custom? If they are commercial, what is the name of the font? If they are custom, are you willing to release the font files under a CC-BY-SA licence?

  • The team has a video that talks about this whole process. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rALOCwzv4zQ). In short: we use a program called Camtasia, and everything else you see is done by someone drawing on a screen and moving the image around with their mouse using the screen record function and a lot of editing. We've had to hire some really talented artists to pull this off.
  • Nope, sorry we won't be releasing the source files. Thanks for understanding why.

Thanks for making all this clear :) Just a thought w.r.t. Osmosis's wish to not have bumpers removed from its videos: As others have pointed out, a CC-BY-SA licence cannot be revoked, however there is the option of requesting a courtesy deletion of your videos on the grounds that you did not realize other editors would be allowed to remove the bumpers. See https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_policy#Courtesy_deletions. If you choose to take this route, I would support your request. I don't know the culture on Commons well, but the English Wikipedia community tends to be sympathetic when someone makes a good-faith effort to donate content and it ends up having real-world consequences that they did not anticipate.
