Title

The title of this template bothers me a little bit as it is factually incorrect. This template contains links that relate to tissue transplantation as well as organ transplantation. Any suggestions for an alternative? Mike 05:34, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

People section

It is my feeling that the "people" section of the template (group9) should include only notable people from the field of transplantation (i.e. surgeons, MDs, scientists etc). Notable recipients could be catered for by the already present link.

I would be interested to know if anyone felt strongly for or against such a change. I appreciate that such changes could prove sensitive. Mike 05:30, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • It appears that some people are being added even though their specific and pioneering contribution to a particular type of transplantation cannot be verified. 65.166.89.2 (talk) 14:52, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Other

There is a section in this template called "Organizations related to Transplants". What should be the criteria for inclusion? I did a quick check on Google and on Yahoo!, and Google lists over one million related pages. Yahoo! lists 40 different organisations. Obviously, this template would become unwieldy if it included all 40. I'm inclined to think that only those organisations that are directly involved in the allocation of organs and tissues should be included in the template, and perhaps organisations that do more towards advocacy and awareness could be listed in a separate article, accessible via the template. Any thoughts? --Kyoko 21:09, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Worse, alloplant, a near-quack procedure has been added. What do we do about less than standard procedures that can now be called up from several dozen other (legitimate) articles?Student7 (talk) 19:28, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I included the Spanish organization since it has the better donation rate worldwide. --Error (talk) 23:57, 6 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Lori West

If I create an article for Dr. Lori J. West (UAlberta), would anyone object if she is added to this template? She has revolutionized infant/toddler heart transplantation in three countries, and is the current head of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. She is also heading up a movement to reorganize transplantation in Canada. Here is a link with a bio: [1]. Please see ABO-incompatible transplantation for more info on the effect that she has had. —Joseph/N328KF (Talk) 18:06, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I should add: One (of six) of the policy changes that is currently being voted on by UNOS is a direct result of her 2001 paper. —Joseph/N328KF (Talk) 18:10, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

German Bone Marrow Donor Center

The "German Bone Marrow Donor Center" (DKMS) could also be added, but needs translation from German page. The article is available in German Wikipedia (here). If I create the page could we add it to the template? The Spanish National Transplant Organization is already added. --Yahia.Mokhtar (talk) 10:18, 27 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
