Edits

Hello. I have updated this article on 11/15/23 for a course that I am in, Wikipedia for the Medical Editor.

I've made the following updates:

- Edited the lead to be more clear and descriptive of the article overall

- Edited the Signs & Symptoms section. I removed SBP from this section, as this is a complication rather than a sign/symptom. I further described it below in the newly added "Complications" section. I added "vomiting of blood" to the signs/symptoms section, as it is sometimes a presenting sign of portal hypertension.

- For the pathophysiology section, I added further explanation of the pathophysiology of both cirrhotic and non-cirrhotic portal hypertension. & I separated this into two separate subsections for clarity.

- I created a Complications section to reflect that the treatment of portal hypertension is directed mostly towards managing these complications. I created subsections for the complications and discussed their pathogenesis & management individually.

- For the Treatment section, I moved HE, ascites, & prevention of bleeding to the Complications section - I felt that they were more appropriate there. Treatment should include lowering of portal pressure with TIPS, which I think would be beneficial to describe in the Treatment section, however, I did not have time to do that.

I did not address the Causes or Diagnosis sections. Skam1279 (talk) 19:47, 15 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
