merge w/ alkaptonuria

It is my understanding that these two are the same thing. If so, why don't we merge them? If not, please tell me how they are different. Thanks, --Brendan19 (talk) 00:40, 7 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Alkaptonuria is a condition that causes elevated homogentisic acid and is a endogenous cause of ochronosis. Exogenously induced ochronosis is caused most commonly by topical skin lightening creams containing hydroquinone. I found it interesting that homogentisic acid is actually hydroquinone with a acetic acid group attached. But noticing that did cause some very traumatic flashbacks to organic chemistry. I tried to reflect the differences in the conditions in my edit. --Dwmtuiu (talk) 12:52 28 Nov 2010 (UTC)

Etymology would be a good addition
