Talk:Neurogenic shock

note

I read that female genital mutilation can result in neurogenic shock, and it is important that it is included on the page. Shock may occur because of blood loss and the severe pain and trauma of the procedure. Both haemorrhagic and neurogenic shock can be fatal. Here is one source: http://fgm.co.nz/complications-of-fgm/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.189.209.161 (talk) 18:35, 21 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Possible misleading statement

In the article it says that "neurogenic shock is not to be confused with spinal shock, which is not circulatory in nature" but I read in a publication of the US National Library of Medicine of the National Institutes of Health titled "Spinal Shock" that "hypotension due to loss of sympathetic tone is a possible complication [of spinal shock]". https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8637263 ---- Thinker78 (talk) 20:39, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

User:CASSIOPEIA this is not close to being enough. You need to provide the exact edit were copyright concerns are added. And you need to verify with high certainty that the should published before we did. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 07:56, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's from Wikipedia.

The ICD code R578 is used to code Neurogenic shock Neurogenic shock is a distributive type of shock resulting in low blood pressure, occasionally with a slowed heart rate, that is attributed to the disruption of the autonomic pathways within the spinal cord. It can occur after damage to the central nervous system such as spinal cord injury. Low blood pressure occurs due to decreased systemic vascular resistance resulting in pooling of blood within the extremities lacking sympathetic tone. The slowed heart rate results from unopposed vagal activity and has been found to be exacerbated by hypoxia and endobronchial suction. Neurogenic shock can be a potentially devastating complication, leading to organ dysfunction and death if not promptly recognized and treated. It is not to be confused with spinal shock, which is not circulatory in nature.
