Talk:Lipodystrophy

Hi

Hi, in the "Antiretroviral drugs" section, I would like to remove the statement "(mainly the protease inhibitors)" as this is too generic of a "warning". Recent studies by the AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG: http://www.aactg.org/ -- http://aactg.s-3.com/) [article: http://www.aidsmap.com/en/news/D412C57E-5683-415D-B807-04E69DE1AABF.asp] showed that regimens that contain efavirenz, though simple and generally well tolerated, actually appear to INCREASE risk of lipodystrophy, not decrease. Indeed, in the same study, a boosted protease inhibitor regimen (lopinavir/ritonavir; Kaletra) was shown to cause less lipo when partnered with any nucleoside combination. As a result, I believe the field still contains way too many unknowns to make such a broad statement. If anyone disagrees, or can provide specific citation for this statement then let me know. Insulin lipodystrophy source? Suggestion

This might be a good source to use for the insulin-induced lipodystrophy section; could I get feedback on whether it is a good-enough quality source and if it would make sense in that section? I'm new to sourcing on Wikipedia and I'm not sure whether this type of source is what is desired. [2] Myoglobin (talk) 01:27, 29 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
