Linea alba

" Before it appears it may be more faintly visible as a linea alba ("white line").[citation needed] " I fail to understand the correlation between the 'linea nigra', and the anatomical part, the 'linea alba'. I'm not going to touch it, but it seems dodgy --> at least from the context of the modern medical meaning of the word 'linea alba'. Silverbhagwat (talk) 12:11, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Never disappear

Can it be used to tell if a woman ever gave birth to a child? If it is there than she must have bore a child? 12.238.14.130 (talk) 06:49, 24 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have a linea nigra, but I've never been pregnant. I've had it since I was 10 or so, around the time I started puberty. I've heard of others having it, too. So, it's not necessarily an indication that a woman has been pregnant. 184.153.144.250 (talk) 01:53, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Medical opinion from someone else

No.

It is a sign of pregnancy that typically occurs later in a pregnancy, and can be seen in individuals who have never been pregnant, who were pregnant but the pregnancy was aborted, and in some guys (who are even less likely to have had a baby). Many women who have many kids don't develop it. It is more likely in women who have kids, but that isn't definite in any individual case.— Preceding unsigned comment added by CFCF (talkcontribs)
