IL-18 location

Health caim about obesity

Hi, @Jytdog:.

I just read part of Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources (medicine) and agree that the second claim may not be permited. But this review (a secondary source?) said: "Obesity is characterized by increased levels of circulating proinflammatory cytokines [including interleukin (IL)-1β, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, and IL-6], accumulation of leukocytes within the adipose tissue and other organs, activation of macrophages in the liver and fat, and activation of proinflammatory signaling pathways in multiple organs (43, 44)." So is that permited?

Thank you for talking! Please read all of MEDRS. and please also read WP:MEDMOS. We don't make absolute claims about health based on animal or in vitro studies, as you did, nor based on the conclusions of primary sources. And what you wrote was "IL1β... can cause cognitive deficits" which is wildly different from what the frontiers source says. Also please cite the PMID in the reference (frontiers source is PMID 24860551). And please back way off the certainty with which you are stating causality. The frontiers source is very clear in saying "The directionality of the relationship between obesity and neuropsychiatric symptoms is usually difficult to determine from clinical studies." The right way to generate content is to read the most recent secondary sources you can on the topic (in this case, what you appear to be interested in is the intersection of IL1, obesity, and neuropsychiatric symptoms in human health) and carefully summarize what those sources say. Avoid getting highly technical (see WP:TECHNICAL) without laying the groundwork; WP is an encyclopedia for the general public. Jytdog (talk) 15:52, 5 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The citation:

Family / superfamily

What's the diference between family and superfamily here? It's a bit confusing. The text says the family has 11 members but also the superfamily has 11 members.--Miguelferig (talk) 17:12, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
