This article is superfluous. Please redirect to Human Gastrointestinal Tract.

This article is a mess. It also is exactly the same topic covered by the more well-referenced and higher-profile article here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_gastrointestinal_tract I don't know if any of the stuff on this article is even worth trying to merge, either. Reading it gave me a headache. At least the parts about about traditional chinese medicine with no references, stated as medical facts randomly interspersed through out this article gave me a good laugh. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.220.84.86 (talk) 09:49, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback

Thanks for creating this article, Iztwoz. Its absence was quite noted on our other pages. Thoughts (in point form!)

  • Firstly, thanks for putting so much work into creating this article!
  • I like your writing style, which I feel is quite understandable and not too technical
  • You can go to [1] or get images from the relevant pages. The page is a little bare at the moment
  • You may have already started, but it would be useful to start wikilinking any relevant articles to this page so that readers know it exists
  • Have started a thread on WP:ANATOMY regarding our organisation of GI tract-related articles
  • If you have access to a textbook of medical anatomy or physiology, or can borrow one, please think of the future generations of editors that may want to edit this page and include some citations :D!
  • Have requested speedy deletion of Human digestive system, currently a redirect. When that page is deleted, please move this article there. (our article title are pretty consistent in terms of Human x)
  • Ping to Lesion who has an interest, particularly in oral anatomy and may want to have a look

Hope this is helpful! Article is looking good, and will have another look on Monday to see if I can contribute anything. --LT910001 (talk) 07:59, 14 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge with Accessory digestive gland

A logical merge and good use of 'human digestive system' to differentiate from 'human gastrointestinal tract' LT910001 (talk) 23:40, 6 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'd agree with this merge. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 12:48, 15 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed split from Human#Digestion

I've proposed a split between the section on human digestion in Human#Digestion and this article because:

  • These articles are natural complements. Digestion provides an excellent overview of the digestive process, and Human digestive system provides a good overview of the organs of digestion
  • The article on Digestion is currently very long, and now there is quite a lot of duplication between these two articles. One way to resolve this, and help readers, would be to centralise anatomical details here, and shorten the section on human digestion in Digestion
  • This would improve the quality by centralising relevant information, and if performed carefully wouldn't result in the loss of any information.
  • Overall, I hope that this split would improve the reading experience and quality of information available to readers

Kind regards, --LT910001 (talk) 23:48, 6 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Digestive system 17th century Persia

This 17th century image was at the top of this article, and I moved it to a thumb that clearly states that it is a historical image, since it is very inaccurate and therefore inappropriate as a first impression for readers. Instead, File:Blausen_0316_DigestiveSystem.png is used in the introduction, since it is the only image that shows the complete digestive system and at the same time being specific in not showing other organs. The current solution is also acceptable. Mikael Häggström (talk) 13:58, 24 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Link to "parent"

Shouldn't there be somewhere in the article a link to the "parent"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.26.58.229 (talk) 09:34, 5 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Why this article has links from non-human species?

The article “human Digestive system” has links towards articles about non-human species. I’m confused. I think this article should be split into “digestive system” and “human digestive system”. 75.137.1.247 (talk) 17:01, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There is a hatnote which directs readers to Digestion for the system in other animals. If material is common the links are OK.?--Iztwoz (talk) 09:46, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Bowel Movement

Should this article mention about bowel movement being the end of the digestive system? Cwater1 (talk) 06:07, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
