Human T-lymphotropic virus seems to explain better than this page.tosendo (talk) 12:39, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Source for virus rename

Can anyone provide a reference for the statement the name HTLV-III (aka HIV) has been reused to name a different virus? I can find no credible reference for this statement.el Chingón 13:57, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The reference appears to have been added. -- Beland (talk)

Treatment

As with other infectious virii i believe this page should include current and proposed treatment plans. 81.105.162.252 (talk) 13:11, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If so, the article should explain that more clearly. I've created a Treatment section to this end. Is there a reference for the claim that there is no effective treatment? The article seems to imply that anti-retrovirals help. It should be stated explicitly whether or not an infection can be cured, as with early aggressive HIV anti-retroviral therapy. Info about any serious work toward producing potential future treatments would also be relevant. -- Beland (talk) 02:34, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have added more information to the treatment section on the treatment of adult-T cell lymphoma that can result from this virus, and the treatment of HLTV myelopathy. My current impression is that their is no effective antiviral drug for the treatment of HLTV infection.Immunize (talk) 23:52, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Prevalence of symptoms

HTLV-I seems remarkably common, and yet I've heard little about it. How often does it result it any disease? -- Beland (talk) 02:46, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
