Silenor

I added a small citation about Silenor (doxepine low dose), a "new" medication for insomnia being developed by Somaxon (http://www.somaxon.com/)

cis or trans?

Formulae and name are not consistent with each other. Mixture of cis- and trans-isomers, pure cis- or pure trans-isomer? -- (talk) 20:42, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:SinequanAd.png

Image:SinequanAd.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Interaction with "narcotics"

In the Interactions section of the article, for "increased drug actions", it lists:

other antidepressants, barbiturates, narcotics, sedating antihistaminics, anticonvulsive drugs, alcohol - resulting in increased central depression

Problem is, "narcotics" is a vague designation of drug types. Does it mean opiates? Any sleeping medication? Or what...

I think "narcotics" is more an arbitrary label assigned to illicit drugs generally, and doesn't really tell you what drug it means. So replacing "narcotics" with more specific drug term(s) would be helpful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Delysid (talkcontribs) 03:47, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

AS a physician I think narcotics is probably adequate although opiates is more specific. Danwoodard (talk) 16:32, 12 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dosage and administration

An article with this much technical detail should discuss starting dosage, titration, and maximum recommended dosage, i.e. Doxipin can be taken once or twice a day. Dosage for adults is usually 75 to 150 mg/day, the maximum recommended dosage is 300mg/day. For older adults or mild conditions doxepin is usually started at 25 mg/day. Contraindications - Brain Tumor?

I checked out the Contraindications and one of them is brain tumor. When I checked the reference link 10, which is a pdf, I can't find any mention of brain tumor, and when I do a google search "doxepin brain tumor" I can't find anything that confirms this. In fact, it's used to partially treat a certain type of brain tumor. Am I missing something on the pdf? Can someone please confirm if this is fact? Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Desert liz113 (talkcontribs) 23:15, 6 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
