Patent status

I seriously suggest removing the references to DCA's patent status as a reason for not marketing it. Unless someone specifically said that they would not market it because they could not patent it, rather than not marketing it because it is still only in pre-clinical trials, it seems like pretty wild speculation. 0x0077BE (talk) 21:38, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are you perhaps confusing this DCA with Dichloroacetic acid? CoW mAnX (talk) 02:23, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I must have been, but I can't imagine what I would have been responding to - I must have read something on the page to prompt this response. Perhaps this page was moved from some page like Talk: DCA (chemical) or something? I have no idea. 0x0077BE [talk/contrib] 23:39, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Cancer

Does anyone have more info on how this can be used to treat or cure cancer? I cant find the studies that are cited in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.55.14.169 (talk) 21:50, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The only statement in this article regarding cancer is speculative and is referenced to articles published over 40 years ago. A quick search doesn't turn up anything reliable suggesting that deoxycholic acid can be useful to treat or cure cancer. In fact, the opposite may be true. Much more recent research suggests that deoxycholic acid promotes cancer growth (here, for example). -- Ed (Edgar181) 22:30, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"When deoxycholate was added to the food of mice so that their feces contained deoxycholate at about the same level present in feces of human on a high fat diet, 45% to 56% of the mice developed colon cancer over the next 10 months.[24][31] Thus, exposure of the colon to deoxycholate can cause cancer."... The words "IN MICE" seem to be missing from the last sentence. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.158.7.93 (talk) 10:18, 26 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Critical Micelle Concentration

Critical micelle concentration seems to be incorrect. The paper that is referenced, in its Table 34.1, gives the critical micelle concentration to be 4-8mM at 25C .... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.107.0.34 (talk) 00:29, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
