Technically
Technically, the pap smear is used to screen for pre-cancerous lesions before they become cancerous and are thus 100% treatable. --Mssmith 01:33, 17 August 2005 (UTC)

Role of PCR in Cytopathology
The first image in the #Cell_collection section is currently captioned, "Brushes used to collect samples for cytology brush PCR." (Image and caption added by User:Oaktree b on 14 December 2011.) "PCR" here is not linked but presumable refers to polymerase chain reaction, however this technology is mentioned nowhere else in the article. Does PCR play a role in cytopathology, and if so should it be mentioned in the article? The only mention of DNA currently in this article relates to visible changes in the nucleus. -- ToE 08:17, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
