Side effects

Who says the injection is painful and you cant use your leg for 3 hours? That is a strong statement not to be sourced. I never heard that anywhere. --- ok (update) I went and had the injection and it was quite painful (was on here the day before researching it)...I made the details a little more clear about this since it is literally nowhere on the internet. People should be prepared!!

Editing the statement out until it can be justified. Muuon (talk) 09:00, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ceftriaxon

I'm currently receiving this in a German Hospital via IV. It's spelled without a terminal e here. Might be worthwhile noting that, for people doing searches.

Regarding the "painful" comment - that's probably to be expected, isn't it, if the pH is 6.7. I did notice that when the drip started I could feel a very slight burning sensation (though nothing I could really call painful). Andrew (talk) 05:15, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Review

1. Does this draft submission reflect a neutral point of view? (yes/no) Draft submission reflects a neutral point of view

2. Are the points included verifiable with cited published material? (yes/no) Verifiable sources

3. What recommendations can you provide your colleague for improvement of their draft?

-The mechanism of action might be better placed closer to the top of the page, before the adverse effects -Could potentially list your PK information instead of having it in sentences, because the sentences are not in any particular order -In C/I you can expand a little on the penicillin allergies and could include the cross reactivity if you know the number -You describe how ceftriaxone looks, but is it the same all over the world? -Is the spectrum of activity for ceftriaxone the same world wide, even though it's listed like that on the package insert? -overall very well written and put together

Thank you for your comments! We have addressed your recommendations as follows:
-We think that most visitors to this page will most want to view adverse effects over how the drug works.
-PK info has been formatted.
-C/I info has been added with source.
-We think that the chemical should look similar unless excipients change its appearance; most sources we found list no excipients added (https://www.medicines.org.uk/emc/medicine/26466; http://www.mhra.gov.uk/home/groups/par/documents/websiteresources/con046628.pdf)
-Although spectrum of activity probably does differ from region to region, these kinds of vague statements were advised against.

Comment

This "Due to cross-allergenicity, people who have experienced anaphylaxis to penicillins are advised not to receive cephalosporins.[1]"

Is not really true. If they have had a minor reaction they can per [1] Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 06:20, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your comment! The lead has been updated to reflect that information. - Group 7 7jmv (talk) 04:14, 12 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Price update

In this edit[2] I fixed the typo (should have been developing world rather than developed world). Updated the source to the 2015 data. And adjusted the text to indicate the amount rather than a "dose". Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 09:10, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What is the brand and generic name of ceftriaxone?
