Suggested move

I suggest a move to trepanation. I've read about this topic out of morbid curiosity but never have heard this referred to as a burr hole. Technophant (talk) 04:39, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

Burr hole is the modern term... Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 05:09, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
@Doc James: Well it's a lot less scary sounding. Learned something. Good work. Technophant (talk) 05:25, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

Other uses of term

I had a left trigeminal neuralgia micro-vascular decompression surgery Oct 2022. When describing the surgery, the neurosurgeon said he drilled a burr hole behind left ear. (I’ll look for notes). The bone was pulverized so I have a star shaped titanium cover over the hole now. Surgery was successful.

Point is, a burr hole can be made as an access point for minimally invasive neurosurgeries, not just to relieve hematomas. Technophant (talk) 16:09, 23 September 2023 (UTC)
