Removal/replacement of "ape-hangers outlawed" claim
I'm replacing the claim that ape-hangers had been "outlawed" for safety in certain US states starting in 1971 & its example quote, for these reasons:
- The early-70s bans were for [i]motorcycle[/i] handlebars, and (as was admitted in the 00s when states began repealing them) existed to give police an excuse to search for drugs & signs of illegal gang affiliation.
- Actual early-70s US laws stated that manufacturers were not to sell bikes with the grips over 16" above the lowest seat height, but didn't affect the use/modification of existing bikes.
- While the claim is about the USA in the 1970s, the "for example" quote is European Union statute from 2005.
- The claim mentioned that Public Citizen was part of the lobbying effort (despite not being founded until the same year), but offers no citation as evidence, and the relevant Wikipedia article doesn't mention it.
In its place, I'm going to add a single line mentioning the 400mm/16" safety standard in the US & EU. —Trilkhai (talk) 08:29, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
Photo of Whatton bars needed
The description of the Whatton bars, with them looping behind the legs, sounds very weird and confusing, and there is no photo of them. I have tried to google for photos of Whatton bars but found of all kinds of bike handlebars and none that claims to be Whatton bars. 2A07:A880:4601:1051:805F:A869:2CD4:224D (talk) 09:44, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
