What is Needed to Improve the Baby Gate Page

The Wikipedia Baby gate article is most likely classified as a stub-class article due to its lack of information on the subject of baby gates. It briefly describes what a baby gate is, the common materials used to make baby gates, and touches on where the gates can be used. The article also mentions different types of baby gates and how they function. The article is very lackluster, providing little additional information beyond what is observable with the eye and common knowledge. This article is missing many key details regarding baby gates. It provides no information on the safety standards other than stating that pet gates do not meet these unstated requirements. The article could have included a summary of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission’s final rule on baby gate regulations. The article also could have included mention of the history of baby gates, at least stating that they were invented by Janelle Fitzpatrick for her own children. The inclusion of information like this would enrich the article, allowing it to provide information that is not commonly known. It would make the article much more useful to its users. 161.31.8.20 (talk) 01:57, 16 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What is Needed to Complete the “Baby Gate” Article

The article “Baby Gate” is classified as a stub-class article because it lacks both visual and informational completeness mainly concerning visual aids, history, childproofing information, and organization.

Visual Aids This article should provide more visual aids like diagrams and reference photos to further educate the reader on baby gates and provide them with a more well-rounded understanding. The image provided does not show a clear image of a baby gate or how it fits into a home.

History/Childproofing Information I believe that a brief history and expansion of information about baby gates would be necessary for the completion of this article. I found myself left with many unanswered questions about baby gates. I.e. How long have people been using baby gates? Are there any significant dangers affiliated with baby gates that have been recorded? When and why did they rise in popularity? Do baby gates affect children’s development or mental state in any way? Are baby gates used globally? When were commercial baby gates introduced in stores? I would also mention that baby gates are a form of childproofing and would suggest that there would be an overview of childproofing standards and regulations. Perhaps providing statistics on the benefits of baby gates would be useful and effective in this article.

Organization At the top of the page there was a section written about a singer whose album was named “baby gate”. I felt that this should be moved to a section at the bottom of the page. Perhaps there could be a subcategory of related terms or something to that extent where people could find that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.249.3.141 (talk) 15:47, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Necessary Improvements to the Article

This was probably classified as a stub-class article because it is severely underdeveloped and lacks much-needed information. The designer of the baby gate should be credited somewhere in the article, perhaps along with a history of the invention itself. If the gate is designed for children and toddlers, guardians may want to know the average height of the product (the width is less important, as it is expandable in that direction). If pet gates do not meet the voluntary standard, what improvements have been made to baby gates to overcome this? A brief summary of safety rules and guidelines regarding baby gates may be informative to the readers, including what specific age or height/weight ranges this product is intended for. The article's audience may also want to know what surfaces a gate can generally adhere to (not only what materials the gate is made of). 192.249.3.192 (talk) 15:45, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
