There's horse ATG and rabbit ATG. What's the clinical or pharmacokinetic difference, if any? Should this be mentioned in the entry? (I'm not knowledgable enough to do it.) --Spiff666 (talk) 19:00, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are significant differences in the action and composition of horse and rabbit ATG. I know a little bit about this, and I will work to find out more in order to expand this article. (If I can figure out all the ins and outs of doing so; I see by reading the editing tutorial that contributing to Wikipedia can be a little complicated.) As far as ATG goes, there are also such preparations made from animals other than rabbits and horses, and directed against animals other than humans. These would be for researching ATG action, which is somewhat mysterious, as in immunizing rabbits with rat thymus extracts, then collecting and purifying the ATG from the rabbit blood for injection into rats.Trigley (talk) 17:08, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I've added some text, but the citations will have to wait 'til I figure out to insert them correctly. I've tried to correct misstatements (some of them); I hope I don't step on anybody's toes. There is much more that could be said about this subject, but I'm not sure how much is appropriate, since there is such a large medical literature on the subject already (tens of thousands of articles in peer-reviewed journals). Comments, suggestions?Trigley (talk) 01:45, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Focus on recent articles. Query pubmed with "antithymocyte globulin" "review" and see what appears. If possible, find a Cochrane review. LeadSongDog come howl! 21:53, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
