Spellings

Do we say aluminium or aluminum? Adipy (talk) 19:26, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • People generally pronounce it the way it is spelt where they live (i.e. "aluminum" in the USA and sometimes in Canada, "aluminium" everywhere else). Black Kite (talk) 19:44, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Aluminum, of course.

(Standard North American pronunciation and spelling.) (See anecdote by Isaac Asimov.) Drsruli (talk) 20:20, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Abuse of Semicolon

The last few years, excessive use of semicolon is observed in Wikipedia. It appears a whopping 67 times in this article. 193.242.214.5 (talk) 04:25, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

And colons appear 261 times, while my computer gave up on counting commas after a thousand. What makes 67 unreasonable? Writ Keeper  12:59, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There are some places where it might be better suited to have a period, but the article is >7,500 words long. Some things are better expressed with semicolons. Reconrabbit 17:30, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
