English: Naval Air Station (NAS) Joint Reserve Base (JRB) New Orleans, La. (Sept. 10, 2005) - Preventative Medicine Technician (PMT), Hospital Corpsman 1st Class Jonathan Wells, assigned to Forward Deployable Preventive Medicine Unit (FDPMU) East, removes a Light Trap provided by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) from a tent city area on board NAS JRB New Orleans. The FDPMU is assisting the CDC and the Louisiana Department of Public Health to eliminate vector-borne disease and other insect-related problems associated with Louisiana’s mosquito population. Diseases like West Nile Virus can be transmitted by mosquitoes, which thrive in wet ecological terrain like that inherent to Louisiana. U.S. Navy photo by Journalist 1st Class James Pinsky (RELEASED)
