Summary
DescriptionTeaching communities about FGM-C (12345176104).jpg |
FGM/C involves the partial or total removal of the external female genitalia or other injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons. The most extreme form of FGM involves cutting out all the external genitalia and sewing up the girl’s vagina. Peer educators use the models pictured here to teach communities in Burkina Faso about the types of FGM as well as the harmful consequences. The UK is working to reduce the practice by 30% in at least 10 countries in Africa in the next 5 years. Find out more about our work: bit.ly/1krV9Qk Take a stand.
