DescriptionUpper part of an Egyptian statue of Caracalla as a pharaoh, Alexandria National Museum, Egypt.jpg
English: The upper part of a statue of the emperor Caracalla, who ruled from AD. 211-217. In this statue he is shown as an Egyptian pharaoh wearing the Nemes headdress, which is adorned with the uraeus or royal cobra. The upper part of the cobra is missing. The face is bearded. The nose, the mouth, and the lips are all broken. There is an inscribed back pillar.
Caracalla was responsible for the famous constitutional law, "Constitutio Antoniniana," which decreed that all citizens were granted citizenship of Rome. The purpose of this law was to give citizens of the provinces the rights that the Romans enjoyed. It was the most important act of Caracalla's reign.
