only males have horns
no black mark on the nose, that's what distinguishes the Common impala (A. m. melampus) from the Black-faced impala (A. m. petersi)
Typical for the Impalas are the hairs above the hooves.
Because of these black spots on the hocks the Impala has in German another name: Black heel antelope. The similar Grant's gazelle has white hocks.
The uropygium of an Impala is brown with vertical black stripes on both sides. The Grant's Gazelle on the other hand has a white back with black stripes on it's surrounding.
