Note the complexity of the bedding, probably members of the Schnebly Hill Formation, (Bell Rock Member, Apache Limestone Member, etc). Below the darker middle section, is a cross-bedded dune member (fossil, lee slopes, on dunes), laid on a flat surface, and planed flat on top. The Pedregosa Sea advanced northwest to the Sedona region, and left the Schnebly Hill Formation; the Apache Limestone Member is thin at Sedona, but 100 ft thick west in the White Mountains region, both areas the north extensions of the Pedregosa Sea.
