Image title	Description: Largest vulture in Africa; Heavily-bodied with a long neck and small head; Wingspan nearly nine feet; Straw-colored eyes in adults, dark eyes in juveniles; Adult plummage pale, immatures brown and streaked; Bare neck is bluish in adults, pink in immatures. Diet: Feeds solelyon dead animals, generally nothing smaller than antelope; Invariably the dominant figure at feeding sites, capable of fending off jackals and even warthogs. Habitat: Mostly seen in the vicinity of mountains where they breed in colonies on cliffs. South of Africa. Status and conservation: Cape Griffon Vulture populations are drastically declining from habitat loss, decreased food sources, impacts with power lines, and secondary poisoning. The most disturbing case of mortality, though, is that birds are hunted for their perceived magical powers. Locals believe if they eat the eyes of the vultures they will obtain they bird's "clairvoyant" abilities and will become successful in gambling.
