Summary

Description
English: The Cable-controlled Undersea Recovery Vehicle (CURV) was developed in the early 1960's. It became famous in 1966 when it was used to recover a H-bomb off Spain in 2800 feet of water. The CURV-III was the third generation of these remotely operated vehicles capable of reaching depths of 10,000 feet. In 1973, the CURV III was used to rescue the two-man crew of the submersible Pisces III which was bottomed off Ireland. In 1976, the CURV III was used to survey the wreck of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald in Lake Superior.
