Summary
English: Valeria Kuvatova, a researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, is interested in the art of the southern borders of the Christian Ecumene. Here she explores the murals of one of the most inaccessible rock temples - Abuna Yemata Guh in the Tigray region (Ethiopia).
Until now, there have been no scientific publications about this unique temple, because none of the researchers were able to get there. The ascent to the temple is associated with a risk to life: on an almost vertical cliff, it is allowed only barefoot and almost without safety equipment.
